Hey I just wanted to let you know, I actually like the written material on your web site. But I am employing Firefox on a machine running version 9.10 of Xubuntu and the look and feel aren't quite proper. Not a big deal, I can still essentially read the articles and search for information, but just wanted to inform you about that. The navigation bar is kind of tough to apply with the config I'm running. Keep up the good work!

Same day as I write this article both YouTube and Vimeo announces they are (public) beta testing video viewing via HTML5 instead of using Flash.

More about that here
http://www.youtube.com/html5
http://vimeo.com/blog:268

So as you can see, this is the way forward, dropping flash.

Youtube is using h.264 compression, not sure what Vimeo is using.
Plus sides:
Fast load (almost no load time)
Skip to any point in video without loading.

Minus:
Only Safari and Chrome browser (yes yes and IE with Chrome plugin, but it's basically Chrome inside the IE GUI).
it's only beta.

the HTML5 standard is still being implemented into browsers, firefox will probably on the boat soon too, though it'll take some time before IE will be there (I got no proof, just looking at the history to predict the future).
