Initially at my former employer we needed some PR images, which I did in the CAD system’s visualization application, but the need for moving images came quickly thereafter.
I started to look into solutions for realistic renders and animation. Several softwares were tested and I felt that they all did pretty much the same, I liked Maya’s GUI and therefor decided on Maya (6.0 back then).
We started of by making a introduction movie, which is available for request here
For reasons unknown some scenes made it on to YouTube, here is one which has been edited afterwards by the company uploading it YOUTUBE
It was an interesting process wherein I got involved with video editing (Adobe Premiere), but another post for that later.
Over my time at my former employer I managed to make some 85 still images and some 50 animations for various purposes.
I got involved with many interesting projects, among these were the launch of the new company museum Diesel House, my animations can be found various places at the museum and I made an overview poster that turned out really nice.
But enough about my former employer.
In my spare time I had some other projects going on, one of these were Parzival, an underground band in Copenhagen whom I helped making music video and arrange backdrops for live concerts (though the video is from before my involvement on the live show).
The bands leader likes cheesy-ness and mystical things, so I did a silly UFO for them which became a part of video and live shows.
I’ve been on Maya since version 6.0 and know the versions up until 2009
I’ve done some programming in MEL for workflow optimizations, and started learning python for creating render network tools.
In the process of workflow optimizations I’ve looked into heavy customizations of Maya for studio-like setups (network render and file databases).
One of the other skills I’ve archived is CAD data importing, with all the trouble it involves (fixing translation issues and surface re-modelling).
Renders I’ve used:
- Maya software
- Mental Ray
- Maxwell Render
- V-ray
I still do work in Maya as A Place Between here, examples of this will come up in a few days.
My weak points are organic objects, though I still try to do them, my main focus have always been technical, so buildings, machinery visualizations etc. baby’s and people have always been modeled somewhere else, but you’ll see when it gets up.
